Things To Consider Before Purchasing a Used ATM
- Age. The life span of most ATM machines is 10-15 years. If you are looking to buy a used ATM that is over 10 years old, you may want to reconsider. An ATM that is only a couple years old, however, has plenty of life left as long as it has been properly maintained and serviced.
- Compliancy. Is the machine ADA and EMV compliant? Chances are, it may not be EMV compliant. But that’s OK as long as it can be upgraded and there is an EMV upgrade kit available. All of our certified refurbished machines are upgraded for EMV.
- Upgrades. Because ATM standards change frequently, be sure that the machine has the ability to be upgraded. Certain models can be upgraded while others cannot. If an upgrade is needed, you will need to factor in the cost of the upgrade when comparing prices. Some upgrades can be a tad costly. For instance, you don’t want to spend $1,000 on a used machine and then have to pay another $1,000 for an upgrade.
- Cost. Used ATMs vary in price depending on the make, model, age, and features. The price of a quality, used ATM averages between $1,200-1,800 whereas a new ATM typically costs around $2,300-3,000. Used ATMs will save you money from the point of purchase and you’ll see your return on investment sooner.
